Olivier-Backus
Hi there, I recently mailed a lighting company for vectorworks files as they weren't in the lighting instrument library. I got back a DWG file and a STP file. When i import those they are just symbols i think. How do i make those files work and do they also work in vision and such? Vectorworks, Inc Employee jcogdell Posted January 18, 2022 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 18, 2022 You can convert the imported DWG into a Spotlight lighting device Here's the link for the Help page that goes through the basic process https://app-help.vectorworks.net/2022/eng/VW2022_Guide/LightingDesign1/Creating_a_lighting_device_from_an_existing_symbol.htm?rhhlterm=creating create created lighting light device devices&rhsearch=create lighting device and here's a link to an older video that shows the same basic workflow, its a bit dated but a lot of the basics haven't changed to much Vision symbols are not so easy to create, effectively there are only 2 options Make a Vision fixture request through the service select portal, making sure to include all required DMX modes that you need, since each mode counts as a separate fixture in Vision. create a GDTF file for the fixture since Vision can read GDTF's natively. For this you will need to go to the GDTF share websitehttps://gdtf-share.com/ Quote Link to comment
