bonose
I?m having problems with the reflected ceiling plan: when doors and windows are classed as ?doors? and ?windows?, they remain the same in both the floor plan and reflected ceiling plan. When they?re classed as ?sill?, there?s a complete void in the wall on the reflected ceiling plan. I cannot achieve the extended wall over the shaded open door/window as shown in the manual. I?m on a Mac, using VW Architect 9.01, and prepared the project setup with VW Setup Assistant. Quote Link to comment
bruce arnold
If found that if you edit the symbol and add the appropiate section of wall classed as ceiling-main you can make it work. Of course you have to decide what thickness wall you will be using, which may or may not be a pain-in-the-a? Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Robert Anderson Posted February 19, 2002 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 19, 2002 Doors and windows have a property called 'Ceiling View' that displays them differently for floor plans and RCPs. You can set this property globally (for your entire document) by using a utility available at the Nemetschek NA Downloads site for VWA. Quote Link to comment
bonose
Robert, thanks for the info - this sounds a lot easier than adding (a myriad of)walls to my (myriad of) symbols. The proble now is, when I try to "run" the 'Show_ceiling_view.vsm' program from the Resources pallate, I get a script error message: Line #1: MCVSMShow Ceiling View6|???? ?? | { Error: Identifier not declared. } | { Error: This does not look like a VectorScript program. } | { Error: End of file in middle of program. }Any suggestions of what I'm doing wrong? Thanks again. Quote Link to comment
bonose
Robert, thanks for the instructions - it works! Is there any way to show door/window swings on the reflected ceiling plan - "show_ceiling_view" shows these inems in the closed position. Thanks again for yor help. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Robert Anderson Posted February 20, 2002 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 20, 2002 This is a VSM (i.e. a menu command plug-in), not a "raw" vectorscript, which you run from the Resources palette. Drop the .vsm file into your Plug-ins folder, then use the Workspace editor to add it to your current workspace. Then use it as a menu command. No need to add it to your document, because now you can access it from VW. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Robert Anderson Posted February 20, 2002 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 20, 2002 Well, it's customary not to show swings -- in fact that's the main difference between FP and RCP in my experience. My question is, if you did show swings on RCP, how would the doors and windows be different in the two views? Quote Link to comment
JRE-AIA
Robert, The show ceiling and show floor commands work on the doors, but for simple windows 2 they do not. Even if I go in and manually go to ceiling view in the OI, I'm not getting any change. I've converted all objects to v2. any thoughts? Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Robert Anderson Posted February 21, 2002 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 21, 2002 The ceiling view option on the windows is more subtle than on the doors. The only difference is that the window sills aren't drawn in ceiling plan view. If you aren't enabling sills on your windows or if the sills are very shallow, you may not see any apparent difference. JRE-AIA
Hmm...I was trying to pass the file along to my structural engineer. He, of course, doesn't want to see anything in the opening. It would be great if the frame and glazing could be turned off and only the opening showed, like a true reflected ceiling plan. In the past I've done this with a masking symbol, but it seems pretty clunky. The PIO's have so much more elegance. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Robert Anderson Posted February 21, 2002 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 21, 2002 We'll put this on the wish list. Quote Link to comment
