Bruce The Original
Where do I go in Vectorworks 2020 to change the default scale for new drawings? Opening the program for the first time or creating a new drawing automatically places the scale at 1/4"=1', and I rarely (if ever) use this scale in my design layers. Thank you! Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
Set the scale and then save the file as a Template. You can also store any resources that you nearly always use as part of the template. If you really want to have the template with your preferred scale open when you select new (instead of having to select the template), you can save the template with a name of default.sta in Applications:Vectorworks XXXX:Libraries:Defaults:Templates. Replace the XXX with the name of your application folder. Quote Link to comment
Bruce The Original
Curious when and why this changed. I seem to recall in versions going back to 2015 and prior that you could just change the default scale for new documents in the Vectorworks Preferences. This seems really problematic to have to go around and back with a default template just to do something simple like change the scale that is applied when you create a new document. Why 1/4"? Pat Stanford
Probably because 1/4" is probably the most common scale for Single Family Residential in the US. I don't ever remember a setting for default scale. Quote Link to comment
