michael john williams
We have just had a general email from our VW seller that lost or stolen dongles will not be replaced and you have to purchase a full licence from March 2006. Is that right? Quote Link to comment
Bart Rammeloo
Yes, that's right. Your dongle is your license. You should have insurance for your dongles - just like you have insurance for your computers. Your PC vendor will not replace your computer for free when it gets stolen or when you loose it. The same is true for dongles. Quote Link to comment
Guest
I think there's a bit of clarification that also needs to be made in this area. If you have an older version of VW, such as VW 10, the only available dongle (a new technology) is not compatible. VW 10 and early parts of VW 11 use a Hasp 4 dongle. The Hasp HL dongle, which is the only being made available to us from the hardware vendor, does not work with anything prior to VW 11.5. The older hardware has been retired, a common practice from hardware manufacturers. When in doubt, check with the source - Computers Unlimited in this case. With all due respect to the dealer, it's quite possible they did not receive or want to share the whole story. It's also important to note that some issues can only be handled by your Distributor and should not be passed through the Dealer. Quote Link to comment
