VW12 File Sharing

We have our VW12 files stored on a local computer (G4 OSX). We then connect from other workstations to that computer via the network to access the stored files to work on. The issue is the local G4 is also used as a workstation and frequently has VW12 files open on that computer and when someone else tries to open the same file on another workstation, the usual warning does not pop up saying "the file is being used and will open a read only file". This could be very dangerous if someone saves the file while someone else is working on it. Is there a setting somewhere to remedy this. I don't remember if this was also the case in VW11 but i suspect it might be new to VW12.

Any help would be great.

Thanks in advance

No, all our computers are macs. We store our VW files on a G4 that is also being used as a work station. So when another person wants to open a file from another computer via the network that is currently open on the "server", no warning shows to tell them it is currently being used.

Any thoughts, could there be a setting somewhere that needs to be adjusted?

Thanks
