Popular Post scottmoore
I have seen several posts regarding venues for renderings and to that point, I've added an arena model to my site for purchase. Users can choose the flooring (concrete, ice cover, hockey ice or white ice), choose how the retractable seats are configured (center tunnel, side tunnels, or removed) change the seat colors, change the scoreboard and ribbon panel graphics, adjust the line weight and pen color of the plan view and decide which houselights you need (floor, 100 level, 200 level, end stage set-up or in-the-round). Let me know if you have any questions. You can download at edgelightrgb.com. Hopefully this will be helpful for some of you. Thanks! 10 Quote Link to comment
Jake Wilson
Fantastic job, great time saver thank you. I will be recommending this to everyone I know that works in VW. If I can make one request it would be an update for the seating sections to make the aisle count from ice level to concourse level adjustable in two or four row ring sections and to raise and lower the concourse entrances to suite small and medium arenas. Jake, thank you for the kind words. As to the suggestion, I love the idea of a completely parametric arena model, but I have no coding skills whatsoever save for manipulating some existing scripts to do very simple tasks. Maybe Andy Dunning and I can partner on something, but neither of us have any spare time! What I have done in the past for smaller arenas is turn off the 200 level, add a wall around the perimeter 100 level and lower the steel and ceiling. Takes a couple of minutes. 1 Quote Link to comment
Leif Dixon
@scottmoore You're very clear to note on your website that these models are only tested up to version 2020, which appears to be your latest release. Have you tested the 2020 arena models with Vectorworks v2024? Quote Link to comment
scottmoore
The backline symbols and arena model work just fine in versions up to and including 2025. At some point I’ll update the website. :-) Quote Link to comment
VIRTUALENVIRONS
@scottmoore Raging Empire pulled me into there world last year for their productions. That world is half a world away though, Australia. There problem was, they had the stadium, A-CAD model, but no seats. The A-CAD model was many millions of unconnected 3D polygons. Short story, I put in 25,000 seats with reasonable accuracy. From what I understand this is a problem for most/all large stadium models that are imported into Vectorworks. Is there a market for this type of work? Quote Link to comment

Is there a market for this type of work? Possibly. It does seem that it is the seats that are the significant resource hog in most arena models. The rest can be dealt with pretty easily. I've done that a few times myself. By the way, your prompting got me to add 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 iterations of the backline and arena models. That is all updated on my site. 1 Quote Link to comment
VIRTUALENVIRONS
The seats were time consuming, but just work. The problem was getting the curves to use DAP from millions of unconnected Polygons. The class structure was also problematic, dogs breakfast. Anyway, below are a couple shots before going to Unreal Engine. Rendered in C4D. Quote Link to comment
