The plug in Overhead Door 2 has options for coiling and sectional doors. This will give you the door.

You will still have to model the drum if you need that in 3D but that is not that difficult:

- Go to an elevation view and draw the drum in profile.

- Extrude the drum to the required length.

- Go to Top / Plan View and move the drum to the correct location in relation to the plug in door.

- Draw a 2D plan representation for the door on top of the plug in door.

- Select all of the 2D linework and 3D objects and then create a new hybrid symbol.

- Edit the 2D and 3D portion of the symbols to insert loci where you want the extremities of the opening to be in 2D and 3D.

Depending on how much 3D detail you need you can model the spindle and brackets in a similar way.

Read the manual where necessary to understand what you are doing. It is worth the effort of learning how to do this as it will give you the capability of modelling other objects that you need to. You could in fact model all of the door components fairly quickly and easily as well.

If that is all a little too complicated you could just use the Overhead Door 2 object and model the drum and brackets separately and then put these in the required 3D location. By creating a hybrid symbol you can easily make the drum disappear in Top / Plan View. Just a few small lines in the 2D portion of the hybrid symbol will suffice.

Where do I find "Overhead door 2" ? All I see in the resources browser w/ favorites file "08_Drs_Overhead" selected are doors that have numbers like 100100 and 10066, plus all of them have 2 vertical bars instead of just horizontal.

Thanks for your help

When you are browsing "08_Drs_Overhead" are the object names in red? If so they are plug-in objects which you can modify through the OIP (Object Info Pallette). Choose one close to what you want in size and then modify it through the OIP.

You will find the Overhead Door plug-in object is on the Architect Sampler file if you browse to it.
