jdlang19
Hi - I have a 3D object that is a panel with all kinds of holes and cutouts. I need a useable dxf for the machine shop. When I use the Convert to Lines command I get a 2D version, but all the arcs are made up of little straight line segments. This makes the dxf useless for CNC machining. Is there any way to convert 3D to 2D and maintain smooth arcs? Tracing over the 3D object with polylines will work, but there must be a more efficient way. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
Andy Broomell
If it's an Extrude, simply double click it and copy the 2D shape contained inside. If it's something else, try using the "Extract" tool from the 3D Modeling toolset, with the 4th mode (Extract Surface) - and under the preferences button make sure "Create Planar Objects" is checked. Click the flat surface you want to extract then click the Green Checkmark or hit Enter. Hopefully this works for you. 2 Quote Link to comment
