Question

How do we get XSF Truss included in Vectorworks/Braceworks? Their Protective bolt plate truss is the strongest on the market and we use it almost exclusively.

We have been working with them and have been adding their lines as we get the data to our Service Select libraries.

@wadecordts There are now eight new product lines from XSF released in the Service Select libraries including the 12x12 Protective Bolt Plate.  Currently there is no cross section data but that is being worked on as we speak but at least the symbols with weights are present.

How is it that a year later and we still don't have the 20.5" XSF truss in the service select library?

Also, how is it Vectorworks 2021 brought no improvements for to the software for truss builders?

The only 20.5" truss in the library that is bolt plate is the Tomcat line, which does not have true 20.5" cornerblocks. So it causes issues for scenic once you actually build the structure using plated truss corners.

we need the data for the truss from the manufacturers, sometimes they are slow in getting us the data.  if you reach out to them and let them know they need to make this  line a priority hopefully they will get the data to us quicker.

What data do you need from them? They responded to my email and sent me over their CAD files for all their truss without delay. Many of the other truss in the library is set to Rigid for cross section data. Why can’t Vectorworks just add the truss into the library in the same fashion using the CAD files?

the product lines we have available is what they sent us the cad files for.  cross sectional data is hard coded into the software so can only be made available in releases or service packs.  and we need the complete structural data from the manufacturer to create those.

If I send you the CAD files for the 20.5", from XSF could you send me some user library files I could use with the insert truss tool?

XSF is building the files for us still, once we get them we will release them in the next Service Select release.  They more than likely will not have Cross Section data, but will be insertable.
