  1. In film & television, we do use chain motors, however the majority of our rigging on the stages is with ropes and pulleys. I have a request for two rope tools that would make our lives easier. One would be to have a "Block and fall" tool where we can add a pulley hanging point position, similar to a chain motor. It would have different modes for single point dead hang, or two point where you could specify a redirect where we could add another pulley along the stage wall for the rope tail. It would be great if we could then adjust in the object info pallet and select the trim height, change the pulley from a 2:1, 3:1, 4:1, 5:1, and have it tell us the rope length dynamically. Even better if this worked with snapping to structural and lighting objects like lighting pipes and house rigging points. The 2nd tool request is a direct rope tool where we could draw straight rope for use in guylines and such. It would worked similar to a 3d version of the poly line tool. We would have options to "Add pulley" at any point in the rope, and adjust the position of that pulley in the same way that you adjust vertexes with the poly line tool. In the object info pallet, it would have a running measurement for rope length. Furthermore, having options for "Rope type" such as three strand manilla or multi-line, 12 strand tech-12 or amsteel, etc along with different rope diameters would be great.
  2. If I send you the CAD files for the 20.5", from XSF could you send me some user library files I could use with the insert truss tool?
  3. What data do you need from them? They responded to my email and sent me over their CAD files for all their truss without delay. Many of the other truss in the library is set to Rigid for cross section data. Why can’t Vectorworks just add the truss into the library in the same fashion using the CAD files?
  4. The only 20.5" truss in the library that is bolt plate is the Tomcat line, which does not have true 20.5" cornerblocks. So it causes issues for scenic once you actually build the structure using plated truss corners.
  5. How is it that a year later and we still don't have the 20.5" XSF truss in the service select library? Also, how is it Vectorworks 2021 brought no improvements for to the software for truss builders?
  6. I keep trying to turn the symbol in the attached file into a truss symbol. It is a 20.5" XSF 6 way cornerblock. It seems like no matter what I do, I cannot get the autoconnect feature to work properly. Please help! I've tried emulating the geometry values from other 20.5" cornerblocks, but I am missing something. Cross section data should be set to ridgid. XSF 20.5%22 truss symbols.vwx
  7. I have a parasolid document I imported. I would like to replace the symbols in the document with XSF truss symbols in vectorworks. I've tried multiple ways of selecting a symbol>Modify>Convert>Replace Symbol but every time I do it loses all the truss records for the new symbol and just brings in the new symbol as a standard 3d symbol.
  8. I got a reply from my email to XSF. They said that they have been working on putting together models for Vectorworks for over a year, and that they sent over the models to Vectorworks about a month ago. They said they are just waiting on Vectorworks at this point. On another note, It seems like there is only 12" truss for XSF in the library. Why is the 20.5" truss not available?
  9. How do we get XSF Truss included in Vectorworks/Braceworks? Their Protective bolt plate truss is the strongest on the market and we use it almost exclusively.
