Markus Dohner
How do I import dwg/dxf files into VW and maintain sheets or viewports alignment. Currently when importing multiple, connected files, they seem to shift or have uncommin origins. Quote Link to comment
Guest
It can be difficult to know where (0,0) is in an autocad file while looking at the file in autocad. Unfortunately, the shifting you are experiencing is because the drawings have been drawn at coordinates that vary in distance from (0,0). Since the coordinate information is retained when importng, the objects across different layers won't line up. One thing you can do is to either import into separate files, group things, copy into a blank file and then align each of the "groups" and ungroup. The other thing you can do is import them all into the same file, grouping the "files" as you import them, align them, then ungroup them. Quote Link to comment
islandmon
Hear , hear , the lack of orientation is a nightmare. Acad programmers just place object helterskelter all over the place. Also, there is a common mistake in the scaling Acad defaults to modulo ten , ie. 1:50 instead of modulo 12 1:48. So check the scaling before doing anything ! Quote Link to comment
