Importing dwg/dxf files--not aligning

Recommended Posts

It can be difficult to know where (0,0) is in an autocad file while looking at the file in autocad.

Unfortunately, the shifting you are experiencing is because the drawings have been drawn at coordinates that vary in distance from (0,0). Since the coordinate information is retained when importng, the objects across different layers won't line up.

One thing you can do is to either import into separate files, group things, copy into a blank file and then align each of the "groups" and ungroup.

The other thing you can do is import them all into the same file, grouping the "files" as you import them, align them, then ungroup them.
