  1. Hi Quartz imaging is on. My colleague designer has the same problem with the EPSs turning in to gray squares as well. We both use Pshop EPS clip paths to trim around irregular images and seemed to work fine for many years?.. Anybody at Nemetschek have any ideas why this is happening?
  2. The objects are EPS images that I import into VW 2013 or 2014, THis problem hasn't occurred in earlier versions all the way back to 12.5 Top/plan 2D elevations or plans See attached file in VW2014 Designer, 343KB. You will have to use the file or leave it open for 20 minutes before the eps images turn into gray boxes. Thanks, let me know what your thoughts are. -Markus
  3. Hi All--please look at these good and bad EPS image files in VW2014 Designer and tell me what you think. Thanks, Markus
  4. I couldn't figure out how to post my 3 attachments, any advice appreciated
  5. Dear listers, I design exhibition layouts with lots of images for years and this is the first time I'm having a problem with the images. After clipping them ( such as a teapot with paths around it and inside its handle) and converting them to Pshop EPS, I import them to VW. Then I scale them to whatever. Everything is fine, but after about 15 minutes of VW use these images turn into gray squares with Xs thru them. This never happened in VW 2012 or older versions, never at all, this problem stated with VW 2013 and still happening in VW2014. To get rid of the squares and return to the image I must restart VW. Then it happens, again, in 5 -- 20 minutes of use. Happens inside of viewports, in design layers, wherever. A real PITA. Happens on my iMac at work and my laptop at home, same problems. I'm attaching the before and after JPEGS for your input. And a screen shoot of my preferences, as maybe that will help. Any comments or help appreciated! Apologies for any cross-posting. 6. My colleague is trying to import a ACAD file that has numerous PNG image files attached. When imported into VW 2011 the images are replaced with boundary boxes and the images are missing. This file contains elevation views involving dozens of art object images. Is there a step in the import dialog that we should modify? Please help, we don't want to have to do this whole project in AutoCAD because of this problem with the images.
  7. How can I scale a rectangle from the center in 2011? The shift+option keys work in version 2010 and 2009 just fine. Not so in 2011, any ideas? Cheers
  8. Hi everyone-- I've got a really tough modeling project from a client who is designing "cave" for a children's museum. It's a faceted walk-in structure about 20 ft long 10 ft wide and about 7.5 ft high. Looks sorta like an old Air Stream motor home. To be made from common structural wood and masonite fill or similar. Any ideas where to start? Is this a project better for ArchiCad or SolidWorks or something else??
  9. dear Datagrace-- Thank you for your responseI'd like to import update certain Filemaker fields into a given VW worksheet. In other words, I want the changes to flow one way--from FMP to VW. For example, at the museum I have a FMP db of all the special exhibitions display cases, containing the dims, colors, condition, etc. of each unique case. I'd like to get certain fields from a record set to update a VW worksheet. I know how to export using tab delimited format, however, I'd like to automate this step some way. I suppose that's what ODBC is about...
  10. What are the most salient advantages of using VW Architect over SketchUp? Work needs require a lot of 3D conceptual and 2D shop drawings, and some interchange with ACAD files. Client already uses the free version of Sketchup so they are inclined to stay with it. TIA Markus
  11. Hi-- Is there any way to bring fields from my FileMaker Pro 9 document into a Vectorworks 2009 document?? Also would be cool to link or reference FM doc so that the data in the VW doc can be updated easily. Any ideas / techniques out there?
  12. I have had a similar problem. A student of mine created a design with graphic textures on his XP Pro in VW 2008. Some of the texture turn black, some are OK, and zoomed in its swaps different set with black. However, everything rendered perfect on my Mac G-4 in VW 2008 and 2009. More important, I was able to duplicate the XP Pro render problem in my Parallels XP Pro environment (on a MacBook) Weird? Any advice? --Markus Dohner VW 2009 Designer RW G4 OS 10.4
  13. I'm trying to figure out an efficient way to extrude type on a curved wall, not unlike dimensional letters you apply to a wall for a display. Any ideas out there? Thanks.
  14. Is there anyway to append --that is, bring in--classes from another VW document?. I want to maintain our office class standards and not resort to remaking the classes for a fresh document. Any ideas?
