Curtain Wall Rotated Frame

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I would like to use curtain wall tools to create my building facade. The problem is i need to customise the frame profile and rotation. Any idea ? Reason why i am using curtain wall tools is the option of controlling the grids in curtain wall. Attached is an image of how i would like my fins to look like.

Thanks,

Once I had a similar "complex" Facade.

I don't even bother with the Curtain Wall Tool. It nearly never worked for my needs.

It is slow, tedious, inflexible and the geometry it produces doesn't help my

visualization purposes either.

For me adjusting the Grid was a pain. I often need shorter start and end dimensions

just one of both.

I worked with Custom Geometry in Symbols for all basic parts.

These Symbols nested in "Module" Symbols offered :

- small File Size

- allowed Variation

- allowed easy Adaption to Design Changes

Also you often would need Curtain Walls inside of Walls, and Walls inside of Walls

is not a good idea. In such cases I go with simple (framed) Windows to get parametrical

openings in my Walls.

For the vertical Bars I use a bunch of Rectangles in a single Extrude.

This will keep all the comfort of 2D Tools for changes.

It works very well as long as the Extrude Edit Mode respects the World Grid

(and doesn't add its own internal coordinate system and Grid Display/Snapping after

the Extrude itself was moved or rotated).

That is especially what does not work for me.

I want to do that in Top Plan View and adjust CW Grid back to my blue VW Building Grid.

(If there were improvements in Grid Adjustments and Speed, ok, there are some other

usability issues for me too - I also would use CW Tool)

But if that works for you,

It maybe makes sense in your case that you use CW for all standard Facade Parts

behind and separate all individual, dynamic, special Parts only,

by the workaround method.
