digitalcarbon
OpenBOM is linking with Onshape, Solidworks and other CAD systems to have a BOM created in those programs and then housed in the cloud for collaboration. This means that a spreadsheet gets placed on your drawing sheet but is linked to the cloud creating a single source of truth. Edits in the model automatically update the cloud based spread sheets and any information added to the cloud spreadsheet gets pushed back to the model you are working on. While VW does not do this at the moment (hopeful) the video below shows how you can us OpenBOM as is and share with others...vs emailing excel spreadsheets... This is sooo cool! 1 1 Quote Link to comment
digitalcarbon
This next video shows how a BOM that was created by my model (model generated) can have data added to it by another person 1000s of miles away. It is like taking a building model in VW and having a window supplier add in all the needed details to the window schedule... Completely circumventing emailing the window supplier a set of drawings for mark-up MIND BLOWING!! Edited October 31, 2018 by digitalcarbon Quote Link to comment
