Problems with Z Heights

Recommended Posts

Anyone else experienced similar strange height shifts in VW 2017 (later SPs ?)

I always use Stories with Levels and Styled PIOs with Components.

(file under NDA)

a)

I often notice that when inserting stylized Doors or Windows in Walls,

they insert with a Z offset in OIP at the wrong height.

b)

I have a Wall Style with start from "bottom of structure" to "bottom of structure - story above"

Components set to use Wall height. No Offsets at all, neither OIP, Style or Layers.

So Walls will touch the next Story's Walls.

But between 2 of my Stories, the Walls overlap exactly for 2 cm in height !

To be exact, the lower Wall is 2 cm higher as it should.

How can that ever happen ?

They share the same Story Level for the lower one's top and upper one's bottom.

I have to add an -2,0 cm top offset for all Walls of that particular Story to make the look right.

I never manipulate Wall heights manually intentionally.

Could it be that I accidentally did that in that particular Story ? For all of these Walls ?

I see no Peaks, all Walls equally. But Components are set to "follow Peaks"

If so, is there a way to reset these Walls ?

Those Story-Level bound Walls with unexplainable wrong heights,

appear when you change a Stories Level's Height !!!

(The thing where you get Duplicates of Levels with same name in your Story Settings

when you manually edit a Level's Height for that Story)

Even Switching back from an edited Level back to the "Default" Level causes such behavior.

New Walls created will accept the Level Height changes and use the new Level,

while existing Walls still use the old Level and its Height).

The only way to repair them is to Cut-N-Replace-in-Place the Walls.
