brettSF
Trying to fully understand what appears to be a half-dozen ways to control the visibility of objects... And as always, trying to figure out "best practice." I have a wall and a ceiling, both made of the same Components -- metal framing and Gyp Board. They are not displaying consistently... Both Design Layers are set to Visible and I have Show/Snap/Modify Others selected. For the sake of the experiment, My Components -- Metal Framing and Gyp Board -- have each been assigned a different SOLID COLOR. For the ceiling: I've created a Slab Style called "gyp + metal framing." It is composed of the above mentioned Components. Each component has its Section Fill assigned By Class Style (inheriting the colors). Slab Attributes are also set to Fill by Class Style. No matter what Class I create a Slab on, it displays as the solid colors assigned to the components. I have created a Class called CEILING, and despite assigning it a Graphic Attribute of a third solid color, in all Design Layers the Slab appears in the original two colors. In a Sheet Layer it displays according to the CEILING Class's Graphic Attributes. For the wall it appears just the opposite: I've created a Wall Style called "gyp + metal framing + gyp." It is also composed of the above Components. Each component has its Section Fill assigned By Class Style, and Slab Attributes are set to Fill by Class Style. I created a Class called INTERIOR WALL and have set that Class's Graphic Attributes to a fourth color. In all Design Layers, the wall takes on the INTERIOR WALL Class's Graphic Attributes. In all Sheet Layers it takes on the Component colors. I really hope this makes sense! If anyone can point me towards a guide of some sorts that demonstrates the best practices for assigning colors, line weights, etc., I'd greatly appreciate it! Quote Link to comment
AlanW
Hi, if you post a small VW file we can have a look at it. Quote Link to comment
AlanW
Hi, 2 things were happening. For you Slab your classes were set to none. You need a solid on them otherwise they will not be able to add a texture. Walls, you didn't have a texture selected in the wall style, so there was no component to show. See attached, I added different textures so they stand out. File got over 2M so couldn't post even zip the textures do it. If cant understand i can post to a drop box.
