J. Wallace
Since the second VW service pack came out I've been using 2016 with little trouble. Today I tried to group together two identical planting and make them one. When I do this all the plants disappear and I get a polygon formed far from the original location. Not seen this before? The original plants were placed using the poly edged spacing mode and resulted in two plant groups. Edited January 18, 2016 by J. Wallace Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted January 18, 2016 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 18, 2016 Does the same thing happen in a new document? The closest I can get to replicating it is that when i start the combine process, the plants temporarily vanish and i only see the selection highlighting and handles, but then they reappear back where the plants originally were, grouped as expected. J. Wallace
Hi Jim You are quite right, in a blank document all seems to be fine. I'm using a template from 2015 which I guess is causing the issue. Time to create a new one. Quote Link to comment
J. Wallace
I forgot to ask Jim. I'm 50% into the project with this template, are there any suggestions as to how I might salvage this without starting over. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted January 18, 2016 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 18, 2016 Do you have a lot of sheet layers with complex work on them already? If not, migrating the contents of your file into a new blank one via Layer Import might be the best solution: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/790/Layer+Import However, this currently only brings over design layers, classes and objects, not sheet layers or viewports on sheet layers. J. Wallace
Thank Jim. No luckily no sheet layer that I can't easily replicate. I used your suggested method and it looks like we are good to go...Can you tell me when a new version is released do we need to update the template that was previously used? Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted January 19, 2016 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 19, 2016 You normally should not have to, no. I only really prescribe those steps either for an issue like you were seeing, or if the template was 4+ versions old where the likelihood of an issue arising would be significantly higher. J. Wallace
Thanks for your help Jim. This forum is fantastic and a huge help... I applaud VW for supporting this group and yourself for your excellent work Quote Link to comment
J. Wallace
Jim I started off with a fresh document without any template. Imported layers and classes as per instructions from the original file Copy and pasted all my work over and put things into their proper layers. I still have this issue. Quote Link to comment
