All .vwx file icons now show as Vw2016 'red icon' on Mac OS X?

Recommended Posts

Since installing Vw2016, the Mac OS X Finder Icon now shows all Vectorworks files as Vw2016 version with the 'red icon' - regardless of what version they were saved in.

The Finder 'Get Info' on a Vw2015 file does not tell me that it is a Vw2015 file but only says 'Open with Vectorworks 2016 (default)'. There is no way to know that it is in fact a Vw2015 file.

I don't know whether it's an Apple or Vectorworks issue, but it makes it a not-much-fun guessing game about which Vw version a file was created in.

Theres no way to discern between older and newer until you open them since they both end in VWX. This is just the nature of how an OS handles a single file extension though. Anything in VWX format can be opened by the latest version of Vectorworks, but anything MCD is VectorWorks 12 or older, and can have a different default application assigned to it.
