transparent layers?

Hi all

I have a 3d model of a house, and wish to place a semi-opaque (transparent) nurbs surface to indicate whereabouts the building fails to comply with our local regulations.

Any ideas how to achieve this? I have had a quick play with the layer transfere feature, but it didn't do anything in "final shaded polygon" mode.

Maybe I should buy REnderworks..........

win2k, VWA10.01

Thanks!

To add to Chris' comments, if you use OpenGL rendering, a 3d object that has NO FILL will show up as a wireframe object. It will also show up in Renderworks mode, but if you cast shadows the wireframe will also cast shadows as though it were physically made of wire. I haven't tried this, but I would guess you can fill the object and make it semi-transparent, so that it would show up when rendered as a see-through thing. But I have heard of some problems with this - search the RenderWorks area to research that.
