chugger127
So I'm trying to create half of a boat as a scenic piece. I've been able to create the hull using a tapered extrude. All looks great. The next step that I'm wanting to do is create the planks of wood that would make up the hull of the boat. Reason being is give more detail as well as create a jagged edge as if the boat snapped in half. How would I go about doing that? For example, I want to create a 2" x 8" board that wraps around the hull. To be clear, I don't want to simply apply a texture to the tapered extrusion. I want to make each individual board. Thoughts? Benson Shaw
This will come close: 3D tool set, Contour Tool. Set contour spacing to average strake width. Apply contours horizontally. Loft between pairs of contours. Shell each loft. If needed, use Taper Face tool to cant the faces. Better: Actually build the boat or half boat. Ribs Make edges of strakes w/NURBS curves rib, to rib, to rib Loft pairs of NURBS curves. Shell as nec. HTH -B Quote Link to comment
