Benson Shaw
Anyone else noticing that Send to Surface is not quite working as expected in v2015? Or is this just me? Or was this already reported? Send to Surface is supposed to project 2d planar objects onto a DTM. Previous versions did that well, and v2015 Help still indicates that's the intended function. Help also notes that the resulting projected objects will be converted to 3d polys or NURBS curves. Bug description: v2015 Designer Workspace Single design layer, default classes. With newly created DTM present 2d line and 2d rectangle on default layer plane and within the DTM extents. Select line or rectangle, or both. AEC>Terrain>Send to Surface. Result: Nothing happens. Convert Line and Rectangle to NURBS curve or 3d Polys Select one or both AEC>Terrain>Send to Surface Result: object projects onto DTM surface. Example attached v2015. -B Quote Link to comment

Kizza
I get the same result in 2012 as per your first example. Works as described in you're second example in 2012. Seems like 2D poly's and linework should be automatically converted to 3D polys - but it's not. Otherwise the Send to Surface command should be greyed out? Quote Link to comment
Benson Shaw
Never mind. Not a bug. Turns out the only 2d objects which send to surface are polylines and polygons. These objects are automatically converted to their 3d equivs during the Send to Surface. They drape on the surface. Lines, rectangles, circles, etc will not send. They need to be converted to NURBS or 3d polys prior to Send to Surface. My bad. I'll put it in the wish list. -B Quote Link to comment
