Selection/Drag Move Tool

zoomer

Question

I wish I could,

directly after dragging an element or part of an element by free hand,

be able to input numerical exact values for the previous operation.

F.e. :

- Drag (=select+move) a rectangle

- press TAB

- type 0.75 TAB (X)

- type 0.00 TAB (Y)

- type 0.00 TAB (Z)

- ENTER (only needed if not all values were entered)

Just that the X Tool stays activated with its provisonal

values, if there comes more input, until it is aborted

by a new selection or new tool.

You can do this if you click the Data Bar and Edit Group Options button at the top right of the drawing area (The gear) and enable the option "Show Primary, Secondary and cursor location fields"

Then you can tab through all the values while moving objects to enter the exact offset distance or coordinates you want to move the object too.

Thanks,

I tried and and see I can do that "before" dragging.

(in the TAB .... way that I was talking in the other wish)

I would like to be able to do this "after" the dragging

operation.

(Being more ergonomic for me as the cursor does

no more influence the edit fields)

While I had the Num input activated without the need of TAB,

I even had to input the values on Num Block with my left hand

as I could not release the mouse button ...

Yes, there are a lot of possibilities to achieve this.

These all rely on that I know what I do before I do

what I do.

Of which I think, TAB before Mouse release is the best.

90 % of the time the select and drag free hand or with

snapping is ok.

Its just when I realize that it would have been better to

have moved that by exact values,

I don't have to Undo again to do the exact values.

Or just the Sketchup way of doing things.

Just move or draw,

if its ok graphically by mouse, ok, go on,

if it should be numerical, just add the value after,

press enter and done.
