Special thanks to all the members here that submitted 3DS and SKP files, all of that testing helped make this imported geometry and texture mapping really solid this year. I submitted dozens of files that had issues and they were all quickly isolated and corrected by engineering during the testing of 2015.

i changed nothing, just imported a 2013 file to 2015 then imported the skp file into a clean 2015 file then placed the lamp and rendered the svp.

this is mind blowing. this means that if you had a big project like a hospital you could have a few interns or someone out side the office with a free copy of sketch up supplying the project with accurate content from manufacturers or from pdfs by manufacturers.

granted, no data is attached, but this can easily eclipse the revit models being produced

Indeed! The same improvements that SKP import got also benefited 3DS import (Their guts are similar) so it also allows you to import from the more prolific 3D file library sites like Turbosquid and The3DStudio. Makes finding additional premade content WAY easier.
