Amelia S
Is there a way to take from a 3d model a second floor plan where the roof comes down below the cut plane of the walls? Like you would need on some houses with dormers or on an attic build-out? We have typically shown this as the zigzag cut line at the roof, but I'm having trouble getting a second floor viewport showing the roof below but not above the cut line. Thanks! CipesDesign
Option 1: Create two VP's, one stacked exactly on top of another. In the undermost VP show your walls. In the uppermost VP show only the Roof and crop it such that your desired zig zag cut line shows up where you want it. Voila. Option 2: Create a Section VP from a Side View. However I don't think you'll be able to get the zig zag cut without resorting to annotating it. Option 3: Perhaps simplest of all, just create a floor plan VP and add the Roof as an Annotation. Hope that helps. Quote Link to comment
Amelia S
That does! Option 1 looks very useful. I've been using option 3 but I get frustrated with that because often the roof below changes in the model and I forget to redraw it in annotations. Thank you!!!! Quote Link to comment
Dieter @ DWorks
Option 4: Create the floor plan with roof planes and create the rest of the roof planes on another layer, much much easier to do and you will have what you are looking for. Quote Link to comment
