Kizza
I'm about to migrate Vectorworks 2012 to Windows 7 (from OSX) Is there any reason to expect file compatability issues between the two platforms? Edit: Or licensing issues?? Edited April 2, 2014 by Kizza Quote Link to comment
SonnyLuong
You shouldn't have problem right now, but if you update to a more current of VW - you might. VW tends to have problems with showing objects drew on older versions of VW on Win platform. I use both platforms and found that VW is much more stable on Mac than Win. Quote Link to comment

Dieter @ DWorks
I use both platforms and found that VW is much more stable on Mac than Win. I have experienced this the other way around. I worked at an office with both Mac and Win, and the Mac versions all had several problems with VW, while the Win ones didn't had any, or sporadically. I think it also greatly depends on the hardware you use.... Quote Link to comment

Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted April 3, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted April 3, 2014 If your serial number starts with an E7X, C7X or a B7X there wont be any licensing problems, those are all multi OS licenses. (Older licenses around the Vectorworks 12.5 era were Mac or Win only.) The file format is the same for Mac and Windows, the files can be opened interchangeably. Quote Link to comment
domer1322
I use VW14 regularly on Mac OS at home, and on Windows 7 Pro at work and transport files back and forth all the time without incident. One interesting thing ... VW reports to Nemetschek if it is activated, and only allows my license to be used on one machine at a time. If I leave it running on one machine then try to open it on the other, it won't let me do it. Pretty good technology for Nemetschek, but sort of annoying for me. (every once in a while I feel like a texture or two may get changed during the swap, but I've never really been able to pin down a reportable issue ... might be operator error.) Quote Link to comment
SonnyLuong
Yes, I think it's a planted bug to make sure people don't pay for a single license and use the app. on a network. For you as a single user, I assumed you just want to have the flexibility of using VW on two platforms. Just shut down the network capability on one machine. And yes, exchange file b/t two platforms does give weird result sometimes. Quote Link to comment
