Bruce Kieffer
What's the trick to make an exact copy of a workspace? On my MacBook Pro I open the workspace editor, say make a copy of the current workspace, title it differently, close the dialog box, select the newly created workspace for the tools menu, and it is different than the one it was duplicated from. I just tested on my iMac and it works correctly there. Go figure! Quote Link to comment
RickR
That should work. An alternate method is to find the workspace file and copy it. Since I'm a Windows guy you'll have to find the file yourself. I recommend making backup copies of workspaces that have some serious effort in them. Too many times I've had mine go x#%^. Bruce Kieffer
I did try the copy workspace, and it too was far different than the original I can't figure out why this is. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted January 24, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 24, 2014 Tools > Workspaces > Workspace Editor > Edit a Copy of the current Workspace That should duplicate and allow you to rename the currently active workspace while keeping everything included, such as palette positions etc. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted January 24, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 24, 2014 Just spoke with Alex S here (who I think just spoke with you Bruce) and something is up with it, it is keeping the workspace configuration (tools, menus, etc) but not palette positions. Submitting now. Quote Link to comment

Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted January 24, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 24, 2014 It looks like its OS specific, cant replicate on Windows 8.1. For now the palettes will have to be rearranged manually afterwards, then use Window > Palette > Save Palette Positions to ensure they are saved to the new workspace before proceeding with work or closing Vectorworks.
