Making 'scalable' symbols

Recommended Posts

Hi,

we do allot of interior design work, and for the setting out part of it ie. light fitting ect symbols are really useful.

But for furniture its not so great, because although we need the pieces to look the same, the dimensions can change.. ie. we have a chair symbol but its 100 x 50 cm were we need it 150 x 60 cm.

Would we be able to keep it as a symbol and just change the dimensions of individual instances ?

thanks

Which version of Vectorworks are you using? It is possible to scale individual instances of symbols. Just select the symbol and on the object info palette you can change the scale type - symmetric or asymmetric. Then, you can choose scale factor for each direction. Alternatively, you can reshape the symbol on the plan.

Hope that helps
