kestetson
Hey All, Is there anyway to lock a symbol in an orientation when editing, to ensure it doesn't rotate? Also, to ensure that all future instances of that symbol are inserted in the same orientation and also can't rotate. Working on some custom symbols I need to lock, but can't figure this out! I have tried going in to edit the symbol, select all, (right click), lock. This doesn't do anything when replacing other symbols (in multiple orientations) with this locked symbol. Basically, when going to Spotlight>Replace Instrument and selecting this custom instrument, I want it always to be facing in the same direction. Sorry if this is a bit confusing, but I don't know how else to explain it. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee klinzey Posted October 14, 2011 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 14, 2011 You can't lock the plan rotation without locking the entire placed object. Locking or modifying the symbol will have no effect. If you are trying to make the 3D geometry remain in the same position as the 2D and not have independent tilt and pan you can edit the symbol and detach the "Parts" record from each part of the object.
