mike m oz
The 3D improvements in Vw 2012 are very good. Some tips to make the transition easier: 2D drawing tools now have a toggle which turns the automatic push-pull behaviour on and off. With it on the drawn object hilights in red and you can then push or pull the drawn 2D shape into a 3D extruded object. This only works if you do it immediately. The automatic working plane behaviour can be toggled on and off using the back slash key. When it is on the acquired face will be hilighted in blue. Solid additions and solid subtractions can be performed with this new behaviour. To activate that mode press the Option key on Macintosh (Alt key on Windows) after you have started the push or pull action. Quote Link to comment
Chris D
Good tips Mike....didn't pick up on the immediate limit to the push-pull from watching the video. There are a number of new single key toggles in VW2012, such as the back slash you mentioned, B for X-ray mode etc. These single key toggles need to be really well documented...they're one of the biggest frustrations for VW newbies as it's so easy to catch a single key accidentally and not know what the hell is going on...
