rsa
I'm trying to have a pocket door offset in the wall to show that there is more framing on one side of the pocket than on the other. Seems like this should be easy, but when I use the "offset" tool in the door setting it shifts everything and doesn't look right at all. I'm not sure how to attach a jpeg or I would. Imagine the entire door with jambs, wall lines etc. moved off center. I'm sure there is a simple fix I'm missing... Edited May 16, 2011 by rsa Quote Link to comment
ChrisA
rsa I believe the offset tool is only for off setting Ds and Ws from say a corner, not off of the face of a wall with in the cavity. You might want to show it on your plan as is, centered in the wall cavity, and then detail it out on a sheet using 2d tools. Hope that helps Chris Quote Link to comment
rsa
Thanks Chris, That is what I'll end up doing because I need to get this done. However, it seems like this should be possible. what if you have a door in a 12" thick concrete wall and you want the door installed closer to the exterior face - not in the center? -Rob Quote Link to comment
ChrisA
I played around with it and this is the best I could get. I inserted the door, turned off the set to wall depth and set the insert option to left, adjusted the jamb depth with no interior trim. Quote Link to comment
rsa
Thanks Chris. I tried that out and it works pretty well. Thanks again - very helpful. -Rob Quote Link to comment
