Peter Eichel
I'm creating my first roof with VW's 2011 and am having a problem changing the pitch after the roof has been created. As before, the roof is initially created with all hips. When changing a hip to a gable you used to be able to change the pitch without ungrouping the roof. Has this been changed or is it a bug? Jonathan Pickup
are you sure you want to change the pitch as well as making a gable? Quote Link to comment
Peter Eichel
Jonathan, I don't have any choice. The main roof is an 8:12 pitch while the roof over the entry, which is a wall projection, is 10:12. I normally draw a polygon and create my roof from it which has worked great since VW's 12. Now I have to ungroup the roof and edit the roof faces which is a step backwards. Quote Link to comment
Peter Eichel
While we're on the topic of roofs, can someone explain to me what is the meaning of the data in the "Roof Surface Area" worksheet that comes with VW's. I've asked this question before but have not received a reply. I need to calculate the actual area of a roof, not its top plan view "diminished" area if you know what I mean. I'm really getting tired of all these surprises when a new version comes out. Do software companies know the meaning of the word intuitive? Quote Link to comment
mar schrammeyer
I think if you give it a go you'll find it gives you exactly what you want I created a quick easily checked roof and it gave me the correct answers just try it Quote Link to comment
Peter Eichel
I was a little misleading in my earlier reply. The worksheet I was refering to is called the "Roof Quantity Report" which still makes no sense to me. I simply edited the worksheet with the roof area function and it works as you stated Mar, so thanks. Do you know how I can calculate the perimeter of a roof or roof face? I need to know the amount of soffit & facia required. Quote Link to comment
