pjveltri
Hey Everyone, As the subject line implies, every time I do the third click in an accessory insertion VW crashes on me! I have attached the file. Thanks! PJ Veltri Quote Link to comment
pjveltri
Just An Update, Vectorworks is now crashing any time I try to insert a new instrument as well! It allowed me to add the scrollers as instruments, but will now not let me add any MAC TW1s to the plot! Quote Link to comment
pjveltri
I don't know if this helps, but I have attached the crash report PJ Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee klinzey Posted October 27, 2010 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 27, 2010 It's a problem with the Lightwright data exchange. You have Lighting Devices inside of "Symbol-1". Turn off the data exchange then edit the symbol and ungroup them to convert them back to symbols then turn the data exchange back on and everything should work correctly. This will be fixed in the next service pack. Quote Link to comment
pjveltri
Kevin, Could you explain this process more? I turned off the live data exchange in LW and am still unable to add instruments. Do I need to edit each instrument I intend to add? Thanks PJ Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee klinzey Posted October 27, 2010 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 27, 2010 You need to turn off the data exchange in VW. File/Preferences/Spotlight Preferences... In the Resource Browser Edit "Symbol-1" You will notice that the symbol contains "Lighting Devices" Select the lighting devices and ungroup them. This will convert them back to symbols. Exit the symbol and turn the data exchange back on. Lighting devices inside of a symbol do not contain unique data so they causing problems with the data exchange. Quote Link to comment

Betsy KM
Where do I find "Symbol-1" in the Resource Browser? It actually looks like just turning off the data exchange has solved my crashing problem, but just in case it rears its ugly head again, I want to be sure to understand part 2 of the instruction. Thank you! Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee klinzey Posted November 4, 2010 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted November 4, 2010 It could be any symbol name. It's just a Lighting Device inside of a symbol that's causing the problem. Contact tech support and they can help you get it fixed. Quote Link to comment
