DonVid
I see one can view a 2D drawing in 3D via a pdf vector based. My question is how is possible to view non vector pdf based, or images in 3D using active layer plane; or view a VW 2D drawing in 3D using the layer plane. Your help shall be appreciated. Thanks DonVid Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
It's not currently possible to view images in 3D using layer plane. Quote Link to comment
DonVid
Greetings Ray: Then, is it possible to view a VW 2D in 3D using the Layer Plane? Thanks, DonVid Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
Yes, in Vectorworks 2010 you can view 2D objects in 3D by using the Layer Plane setting. Quote Link to comment
DonVid
Greetings: How can one set the Layer Plane to view 2D drawings to 3D. I tried to draw 2D lines and poligons in 2d, and when set to Layer Plane nothing happens. Please advise me on this. Thanks, DonVid Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
Layer Plane is a setting for objects. Select your object(s) and change to Layer Plane in the OIP (Object Info Palette). Quote Link to comment
DonVid
Thanks, it works like a charm. I notice that when 2D objects are viewed in 3D lost their attributes (e.g. fills, pattern, colors). Is there a way to keep these attributes; also an imported vector based pdf loose its attributes as well. Thanks for your advise. DonVid Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
2D attributes do not show in 3D. What attributes do you have for a PDF? Quote Link to comment
DonVid
Hi: For a pdf I am just talking about colors applied to drawings and then showed on the pdf. When the pdf is imported those colors are shown on Screen Plane, but when one changes to Layer Plane colors do not show. Your explanation is very helpful. Thanks Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
I would say it's not possible then. Quote Link to comment
bc
I am still on VW2009 but would it be too much trouble to convert your 2D poly's to 3D polygons? You loose the 2D fill attribute in top plan view but gain it in 3D. Could you duplicate the 2D in place and convert those to 3D? This would give you both views with attributes but might prove troublesome otherwise. Perhaps I don't understand your needs. Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
bc, VW 2010 will show 2D objects in 3D now so there is no need. DonVid is wanting attributes and graphics to show in 3D which doesn't. Quote Link to comment
