LIGHT SHADDOW ANIMATIONS

Recommended Posts

HI THERE!

DOES ANYBODY KNOW IF IT IS POSSIBLE TO DO A LIGHT ANIMATION IN VECTORWORKS 2010, WHEN IN A PLAN VIEW, THAT SHOWS HOW THE LIGHT MOVES THROUGHOUT THE DAY?

DOES THE PLAN NEED TO BE BUILT IN 3D, OR CAN YOU DO IT IN 2D? I HAVE HEARD THAT THIS CAN BE DONE WITH A 2D PLAN BUT I AM STRUGGLING TO SEE HOW THIS IS POSSIBLE!

IF ANYONE DOES KNOW IF THIS IS POSSIBLE? IS THERE SOMEWHERE THAT I CAN GET THE INFORMATION ON HOW TO DO IT?

THANKS SO MUCH!

No, it can't be done without 3d information in the scene to cast the shadows. And a 3d surface for the shadows to land on.

If you draw your 2d plan as simple rectangles or polygons and extrude to the mean height you will have a fast approximation of your 3d model quite quickly. For your ground you could just draw a large shape and extrude by an arbitrary value - eg 1mm. This will get you started.
