calandra pentagon
HI THERE! DOES ANYBODY KNOW IF IT IS POSSIBLE TO DO A LIGHT ANIMATION IN VECTORWORKS 2010, WHEN IN A PLAN VIEW, THAT SHOWS HOW THE LIGHT MOVES THROUGHOUT THE DAY? DOES THE PLAN NEED TO BE BUILT IN 3D, OR CAN YOU DO IT IN 2D? I HAVE HEARD THAT THIS CAN BE DONE WITH A 2D PLAN BUT I AM STRUGGLING TO SEE HOW THIS IS POSSIBLE! IF ANYONE DOES KNOW IF THIS IS POSSIBLE? IS THERE SOMEWHERE THAT I CAN GET THE INFORMATION ON HOW TO DO IT? THANKS SO MUCH! Quote Link to comment
bcd
No, it can't be done without 3d information in the scene to cast the shadows. And a 3d surface for the shadows to land on. If you draw your 2d plan as simple rectangles or polygons and extrude to the mean height you will have a fast approximation of your 3d model quite quickly. For your ground you could just draw a large shape and extrude by an arbitrary value - eg 1mm. This will get you started. Edited May 26, 2010 by bcd Quote Link to comment
Ken
Yes. Solar animation is possible in plan view. But of course, just like in real life, only three dimensional objects are affected by light(s). Quote Link to comment
calandra pentagon
thanks this is definitely what i thought but was told it could be done in 2D! good to have confirmation Quote Link to comment
Ken
Com'on. I gave you the benefit of the doubt. Now are you really wondering whether 2D linework can generate shadows? :tired: Quote Link to comment
calandra pentagon
NO THATS WHAT IM SAYING, I KNEW IT COULDNT, BUT WHEN YOUR BOSS IS TELLING YOU THAT IT CAN BE DONE, ETC ETC, YOU START TO HAVE YOUR DOUBTS. Quote Link to comment
