Mecacarl
I'm having having problems exporting from VectorWorks 12.5 to Cinema 4d. After selecting export in VW 12.5 menu, all of the normal export windows are open & everything seem to be working, but at the end of the process VW 12.5 does not generate a file at all. I'm using the updated version of the plugin from the Maxon web site. I running MacBook Pro 10.6.2 Snow Lepoard. Is anyone else experiencing the same problems & what can be done to fix this? michaelk
12.5 isn't supported on Snow Leopard. This may be one of the functions that doesn't work on Snow Leopard. Quote Link to comment
David Ormsby
Have you had it working before? Quote Link to comment
michaelk
I just tried exporting to .3ds (I assume that's how he was trying to get to a file format Cinema 4D could open) w/ VW 12.5 on OS 10.5.8. It worked. Quote Link to comment
Mecacarl
Yes, I've been using it. I believe that I started having problems when I purchased a New MacBook with Leopard, Then Snow Leopard. It worked fine on Tiger. My question is, Why does the update on the Maxon web site not work! It's the reason they have an update, to fix this problem. Quote Link to comment
Mecacarl
No. 3ds does not separate the model good enough. The best way is to use Vectorworks Exchange. You can then add materials to any part of the model. Another export file format I've tried is "Export Stereo Lithography" that works better then 3ds. It doesn't work better then Vectorworks Exchange, but it's the second best. Once you import this format into C4d you need to "explode" it, & some times everything is not separated. So you end up having to work with polygons which is a time hog. Quote Link to comment
David Ormsby
I am not a mac guy, but as michaelk mentioned VW12.5 is no longer supported under your OS. And looking at the Maxon site (http://www.maxon.net/downloads/updates-co/updates/plugins.html) the update for VW12.5 only mentions OSX so that version may be incopmpatible as well with your 10.6.
