nering
So, I am trying to create a solid addition or subtraction, but regardless of the size of the final product and it's complexity, the more add/subtract solids command I use, the bigger the file gets. SO, the 30' square piece of waffle slab is 187MB, but a 180' square piece is only 24MB. Obviously, I started out by creating a big slab and then subtracted as needed to suit the conditions. Is there a way to make the file smaller? Purging and copying into another file, only make the file bigger... Quote Link to comment
islandmon
Modify> Convert to Generic Solids The increase in the filesize is the editing / undo history for that object. Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
You could try to simplify your method. Extrude all of the objects used as the subtraction object at the same time, they will be treated as one extrude. Then do your solid subtraction and the history will be much smaller and still editable. If all of your subtraction objects can't be extruded at the same time, select them all and Add Solids, then Solid Subtraction. Again your history will be simplified. Quote Link to comment
nering
Converting to generic solids made the file 100 MB instead of 180 MB, but that is still too big. I'll try simplifying next time. Maybe I just need a bigger, better, newer machine... Quote Link to comment
