Steve Barrett
Recently I've started having an issue with a chair model displaying correctly when using hidden-line mode. The model is very simple (the legs are just 3d polygon lines) as I sometimes need 16,000 or more of them in my drawings. When I render the legs and the back supports disappear. I started playing with the smoothing angle setting and if I set it to zero, the problem goes away. The issue with this setting is my curved trusses take on a faceted look which requires a smoothing angle of 10 or more. Any ideas or suggestions? Steve B. Quote Link to comment

michaelk
I don't know why this works, but it does. Add a vertex to the legs. It seems go off the deep end when you render a colinear 3D poly in hidden line with a smoothing angle. But as soon as the leg is non-colinear, it works fine. Maybe somebody out there will know why. hth michaelk Quote Link to comment
Steve Barrett
Well this is odd. I added a vertex to the legs and support and when I render I get 1 leg only. Quote Link to comment
michaelk
Again, I have no idea why this works. But all you need to do is add a little bend at one end of the leg or back support. It works. Don't know why. hth michaelk Quote Link to comment
