Cross platform work: how to save and transfer?

I am using a borrowed Mac OS X with VW 11.5. Need to use a PC with VW12.5 next week. Tried to open on a PC but the files (on a memory stick) are not opening or recognized. How do I export them so they can be used on a PC?

First thing to check:

When going from Mac to PC, check to make sure the Mac adds the .mcd (or .vwx or .doc or .xls or whatever) suffix to the file name. Macs don't need the suffix and can be set to not automatically add it, but PCs won't recognize the file without it.
