orlando Teixeira
Hello PPl, is it possible in any way to vectorworks get the current file name and put it on a line of text ? This is very usefull to me because whenever i want to search/change an project i ask the name in the left corner to the client or cityhall and is easy to find it and the right file also As an example : 1) imagine that the layout of a sheet in the upper left corner as an reference of the file in question like "robbinson_smith_31032k9" 2) the name is the current file name without the extension ".vwx" is this possible ? ps. i used to do this very very easy in cad just by adding a "field" in the text. Automaticly it added the name of my current file and changed it as i saved it every time. thx in advanced Quote Link to comment
islandmon
Check for a stamp tool in Dims/Notes > 'Data Stamp' .. it includes the file name. Quote Link to comment
orlando Teixeira
thx islandmon : that worked perfectly But now i have another question, is it possible to the stamp become automaticly updated ? Like after an "saveas" or if i change the main name in windows or mac ? Or do i have to use another thing like vectorscript ? if so where ? Thx in advanced Edited April 1, 2009 by orlando Teixeira Quote Link to comment
islandmon
When a Data Stamp is placed an ObjectID# is created and the DataRecord's Fields linked to that ObjectID container are 'filled in' .. that's what you see displayed with the info for date, filename , etc. The DataStamp is dormant unless it is told to re-activate & re-load the new information into the RecordData fields. Simply selecting the DataStampObject and clicking on/off/on into one of the OIP stamp fields will update the Record's information. You could write a simple script to handle the updating for you. The script could even operate autonomously in the background ... updating every so often, as req'd. Quote Link to comment
