ethelen Posted September 17, 2008 Share Posted September 17, 2008 Hello, In one of my files I have lost the ability to select using the direct selection tool. When I attempt to select, the cursor changes from a black arrow to a while hand with pointed index finger. The problem seems specific to this file i.e. I am still able to select normally in previous versions of the file. My class options are set to show/snap/modify others. I tried to select all and copy to a new document but it did not work. Can anyone shed some light on this? Many thanks, Liz Quote Link to comment

Ray Libby Posted September 17, 2008 Share Posted September 17, 2008 The finger cursor comes up when using the 2D selection tool to draw a marquee to select. It sounds like you probably have your layer the objects are on in a view other that top/plan. For show/snap/modify to work, all layers must be the same scale AND in top/plan, not top view.
