  1. Thanks so much for the replies. I established that I am in top/plan view and finally called tech support. The problem has them temporarily stumped, but they are working on it...if we can solve it I'll post the answer.
  2. Hello, In one of my files I have lost the ability to select using the direct selection tool. When I attempt to select, the cursor changes from a black arrow to a while hand with pointed index finger. The problem seems specific to this file i.e. I am still able to select normally in previous versions of the file. My class options are set to show/snap/modify others. I tried to select all and copy to a new document but it did not work. Can anyone shed some light on this? Many thanks, Liz
  3. Hello, Suddenly the Shift + command for selecting multiple objects has stopped working in my VW 10 software. Holding down shift to constrain a line to orthagonal has also stopped working, so I'm wondering if I disabled a preference accidentally? I've restarted several times to no avail. Also confirmed that Shift key is working in other programs. Help! Many thanks, Liz
  4. Hello, How can one edit the pre-set "glazing styles" for 3d door, window objects, etc.? I want to add a bit of blue tint to the glazing but cannot figure out how to access a glazing style. I don't seem to be able to use my own homemade glazing texture either - the door class settings in Object Info only display the pre-set glazing styles. 5. Thanks Matt - I am looking to create a beam as bright as the ones featured in your images, but a bit longer in length. How did you do it? Best, Elizabeth Thelen Design Assistant Interim Design
  6. I've mostly been looking at it in final quality renderworks mode...
  7. Hello - I am working on a model in which I need to insert a series of small, focused uplights around the top of a leather banquette. I am not having much success - the overall lighting appears brighter with each addition, but it is diffuse, not focused, light. I've been experimenting with both spotlights and point lights, with brightness in a range between 80 and 10 for each light, and with spread and beam values in a range between 30 and 10 degrees, without much luck. I thought the problem might be the uplighting itself, but the lights behave the same whether pointing up or down. Any suggestions for ways to achieve the effect of small, focused beams of light? Or suggestions on uplighting? Many thanks, Elizabeth Thelen Design Assistant Interim Design
  8. It was the show/snap/modify option - thanks! Elizabeth Thelen Design Assistant Interim Design
  9. Hi - The class is definitely set to visible, so I guess that is not it. I have checked "use at creation" and designated it as a solid. There is no texture assigned yet. Could any other class settings be causing this problem? Thanks, Elizabeth Thelen Design Assistant Interim Design
  10. Hello, The last several times I have assigned a 3d object to a class, I have lost the capability to select that object. I imagine that this may be a problem with my class settings, but I've never had a problem before...anyone experienced this? Thanks, Elizabeth Thelen Design Assistant Interim Design
  11. Hello - I'm a beginner with Renderworks. I' m about to start a 3d model by pulling solid objects up from a plan in 1/8" = 1'0" scale. I wondered if the scale of the plan/model matters in terms of the renderings that will be produced? Thanks, Elizabeth Thelen Design Assistant Interim Design
  12. Thanks Robert - this was helpful. However, it has generated another question. When the text is set to a small size (as is necessary for my drawing) it makes it difficult to work within the schedule worksheet. Should I wait until most of the schedule data is finalized before formatting text siz to a small scale? Is there a zoom function or something within the worksheet? Please advise... 13. Hello, I am a VectorWorks "beginner" and I am using the schedule feature for the first time. I am trying to insert a plumbing fixture schedule in a drawing sheet. The drawing is in 1/4"= 1'0", and I cannot figure out how to scale the schedule to the appropriate size. I have tried: - Placing the schedule on its own layer and playing with the layer scale, but the size does not change. - Scaling the schedule as an object, but I get the message that the "object cannot be scaled." - Setting the scale under Architect Preferences - I don't see a setting. Can anyone help? This seems like it should be simple, and I need to figure it out by the end of today. Thanks in advance! Elizabeth Thelen Design Assistant Interim Design interimdesign.com
