Fresnel's light not rendering

So here is where i am at with VW2008:

i have been trying to do some 3d rendering, but never have been able to get some of my instruments to output light. i know something is blocking the light because when i tell the light not to cast shadows it works... just without shadows. i checked the symbol's 3d component and everything is set to default instrument texture with casting shadows turned off. for some reason i can't get it to render correctly. anyone run into this problem before?

hello josh;

are you using a spotlight 2008 symbol? or is it a fresnel imported from a vw version earlier than vw12? if it is the latter (earlier than vw12), then the default texture of the symbol's 3d component may be stopping the light. for that matter, earlier symbols' 3d light point-of-origin defaulted from the middle of the c-clamp. if the light position is an import from an earlier version, it may be the culprit.
