Confused - stipple outline?

Its late and im getting a bit confused. Trying to reuse a stipple from another project but I don't think its specific to that.

I select the stipple from the resource browser (double click it) then draw the poly outline. Without changing anything, sometimes I get an outline to the polygon, sometimes I don't. This is say drawing 5 stipples, suddenly, for no reason that I can see, some draw with with an outline that I cannot get rid of. Doesn't seem to relate to whether the poly is closed or not.

Another quick question. I have a saved stipple and I have a polygon - say, quite a complex outline - a curve. How do I apply the saved stipple to this polygon without either converting the polygon to a stipple and configuring the stipple settings, or without selecting the saved stipple then having to redraw the polygon?

i think there is an option which you can check which says 'fade stipple from edge'

in the stipple settings box

i think this causes the stipple to have an outline, give it a try
