Peter Eichel
Any advise on adding a realistic stream or brook to a DTM. Quote Link to comment
Benson Shaw
Depends on how realistic you need it. Here are some ideas: For a pond, draw a 2d poly slightly larger than the contour defining the water level, convert to 3d poly with any fill color, add Nature Water texture from the VW library. For a stream, tilt the poly to slope of stream. Perhaps use several polys if there are cascades or drops. Vary the texture scale, rotation and bump for the various polys. Or make a NURBS poly with the various cascade drops (again, a bit wider than the contour for water level), and Create or Loft Surface. Apply water texture. Or photograph a section of a real brook and import that as an image texture- rocks and all. Apply it to NURBS or flat poly surface. -B Quote Link to comment
Peter Eichel
Benson: I used a copy of the original polyline that formed the brooks winding path in the DTM, converted it to a NURBS curve and "extruded along path" an appropriate shape. Worked beautifully. Thanks for the tips. Quote Link to comment
