i come from using autocad so i am finding this a bit difficult

im trying to create a template so that when i open a new sheetlayer that it contains a title block already to be filled out.

VW works a little differently.

A template file will only be used when you create a new document, not when you create a new layer in an existing document.

To come close to what you want, create a template file with a "Template" design layer with your title block on it. Then instead of creating a new design layer, duplicate the template layer.

If you have 2008, you can import layer(s) and classes (The structure alone or with the objects) into another drawing.

This is great for drawing synchronization, or updating a template file. It's also helpful if the project is spread across files to align all files to the same file structure and/or attributes.
