Peter Eichel
What is with VW's on again off again commands. I am trying to create a conceptual DTM for an airpark. As such, I created my own 2D polygons to be converted with Landmark's 2D POLYS TO 3D CONTOURS command. It goes through the cycle but I end up with 2D polygons. Being familiar with VW's quirks, I start a new blank file, do the exact same thing and it works. Also, moving a house to the surface results in the slab being properly placed but the rest of the house is left behind, even when grouped. I've reviewed the site modeling movie over and over but I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong and please don't suggest that I use a NURBS surface instead. I want a rolling textured DTM with roads, houses and so on sitting nicely on it's surface. Win XP, VW Designer 12.5.3 Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
I don't know about your second problem, but the first is probably something else on the layer. I had that problem last year. If there is anything on the layer other than 2D polygons (not polylines), then the convert fails silently. Pat Quote Link to comment
Peter Eichel
Problem solved, I used the TASK MANAGER to see and use what layer & class is pre-programmed for contour lines and it worked. I am still puzzled, though, by the logic behind some of the pre-programming in this tool! Thanks Pat. Quote Link to comment
Petri
There ARE classes for contour lines? Quote Link to comment
Peter Eichel
The Task Manager settings of 'Site Plan (General)-Contour Lines' results in the layer setting of 'Mod-Site-Civil' and a class setting of 'Site-Topography'. Whatever the settings, it worked. Quote Link to comment
