Unable to move door to Demolition class

I am unable to move any doors in my drawing to the demolition layer. I can select the door, change the class in the OIP but the change doesn't stick - it jumps back to Doors-Main. I've been able to move other objects, just not the doors.

Has anyone else out there run into this problem?

Am I doing something wrong?

Can someone out there help me figure out how to make this work?

Are the doors inserted in walls?

Forgot to mention that I'm using VW2008-Designer. Tried to do this in 12.5.2 and it didn't work there either.

Yes - the doors are inserted into walls.

Do the Doors = Symbols ?

Doors=Symbols? I don't think so. I placed them with the door tool.

Billtheia, you have AUTO-CLASSING turned on. Go to FILE>DOCUMENT SETTING>STANDARD NAMING and uncheck the box. This option causes many items to be "locked" to a defined class.

Peter is correct - I read the post wrong and thought you were trying to move the doors to another layer, in which case the walls have to be moved along with the doors to another layer. This rule does not apply to classes.

Thanks, Peter. That did the trick.

Kind of a cumbersome that VW forces you to turn this off to allow something as common as demolition and that you need to make sure you don't allow it to re-class objects when you turn it back on. I can imagine a new VW user (like me) accidentally re-classing a bunch of doors back OUT of the demo class - OOPS.
