holsteinson
is there a tool to remove unwanted triangles out of the DTM's TIN?? This is a very useful tool to eliminate all the extra triangles generated along the perimeter of the DTM that are not part of the surveyed area! Also to improve modelling in flat areas! Does this tool exist in VW 12.51 or not? Quote Link to comment
dspearman
If you are adjusting the perimiter (hull) then select the Site Model. Run the menu command Modify/Edit Group.. . Draw a 2d polygon to define the limits of the Site Model and exit the Edit Group. When the Site Model updates only the portion within the Poly will draw. Quote Link to comment
holsteinson
Thanks for this workaround! it is a pain to do it in large irregular shaped hull (perimeter) it would be 10 faster just click on the triangle to be elimated from the TIN! most of all professional grade CAD software come with this TIN triangule removal tool in the DTM tool palette so why LANDMARK doesnt support this must have feature immediately? Petri
Actually this is not a workaround but the proper procedure in VW. You have to tell the DTM program the area you want the model to be created of. You can of course convert the model to individual triangles and delete them at will. (Most professional users of CAD software read the manual and find out what and how the particular CAD system does.) Quote Link to comment
