auto-save/confirmation only if file modified

Although it's nice top be able to prevent the auto-saving a file

when edits may not be desired to be retained; it's fairly annoying

for the confirmation to be presented periodically when no edits

have been performed (as changing view orientation should not be

considered an edit).

Ideally auto-saving should only be performed after some unit of

time after the first true otherwise unsaved edit was performed.

Hear, hear! In addition, at present it is also quite possible to close a modified file without any warning.

Set Autosave to Operations instead of Minutes. Another benefit is it won't kick you out of text boxes when the time is up to Autosave.

Better, however believe a hybrid solution would be better:

- save with confirmation after N operations AND T units of time.

(thereby one won't be pestered to save prior to T units

of time, even after performing N possibly very simple

operations within an short period of time).

Yup. That would make sense. Deleting 30 redundant lines is of little importance and you don't want to be prompted to save a 300MB file for that.

And the auto-save really needs to not be active when in the middle of a time consuming process...ie. rendering. Having auto save on during a render is a sure fire way to hang or at the very least increase rendering times drastically.
